How to get rid of JRiver 25 nag screen to purchase?
« on: March 22, 2019, 05:03:12 pm »

How do I get rid of the nag screen to Purchase J River 25 which pops up constantly in the Action Window on both my computers despite the fact I have already purchased the upgrade (this also occurred in J River 24)?

Thanks.

Download and install the latest MC24 from the forum.  If it finds an MC25 license, it won't remind you again.

I'm presently running version 24.0.75 (64 Bit) which I believe is the current version and am still receiving the nag messages.

I purchased MC25 long time ago and I am tired of getting the nag notice every time I open MC 22.  Don't tell me to install MC25.  I will do it when I am ready.  JRiver knows I have paid already, yet you continue to nag everyone.  Turn it off. >:(

People who choose not to upgrade to MC25 shouldn't be nagged either.

Select disable automatic updates in Help>Update channels. But really why the fuss?

Like swiv3d said, turning off auto-update will disable the nag.

Then you lose automatic updates. Not a huge thing with MC24 phasing out, but the "no big deal" attitude is one reason why the web is so obnoxious. Popups, popovers, forced account creations, cookie warnings, nag screens to use an app instead of a browser, etc. People just want to get things done.

We depend on upgrades.  They are about a very significant part of our business.  Email has become unreliable.  Microsoft has been blocking our email.

We added the upgrade message recently.  We'll continue to try to tune it so it's more acceptable.  We made a significant step toward that in the last build of MC24.

Jim,

We get that you depend on upgrades - so do we :)

And I do not have a problem with being notified ONCE - but any more than that and I get frosty.

There should be a check on that box (or some sort of mechanism) that basically says "Do not display this message again"

Up to you on how to implement - but this is standard process world wide now.
