How to use JRemote with VPN

It appears that I have a problem getting JRemote to connect to my network if I have a VPN, i.e., ExpressVPN, active.
Not an expert with JRemote and especially not with VPN usage.
Thoughts?

What router/switch/AP do you use? Also if you use VLANs you may need to add the routes for the vpn, depending on what VPN you use if you are referring to VPN into your network remotely.

If you're talking about VPN out to another network you may need to take a look at their documentation if you need to use a app to manage it, rather then the OSes tools.
