MC25 does not reduce the CPU load / sometimes starts 2 tasks

For some time now I have noticed that MC never reduces CPU load anymore. Earlier, after a short time left
the CPU load decreases to about 1%. There is nothing played  and the CPU load is between 12 and 20%.

Sometimes MC obviously opens a second task (hidden). If I close the MC window, this task is still present - with no windows. I can only close it via the task manager.
The LOG will continue to run until I close MC's 2nd task.
The log file of the "normal" MC ---> Previous Log.txt.zip

After closing MC the "hidden task" produces a LOG of 125 MB in 4 minutes. with always repeating two lines

Another situation: MC does not close the window. (only one task) In the log the same happens in 85 MB:

It is possible that the following happens.
I close MC ------> MC closes the GUI but the "hidden task" persists (about 1 -2% CPU load), which MC - for whatever reason - does not completely shut down.
When I open MC again, I see in my Conky 2 times MC 25

...

I have an old Haswell 2-core machine that was getting this on 50 and 62, but neither of my Ryzen boxes were.  I got a log that had a bunch of "thread updates", but I didn't look further.  Updated to 65 and it went away.  I'll see if I can round up that log...

This and the previous 2 posts sound like MC is sticking on file analysis.

I did see ONCE the same log entries as you did  CLocalReader :: SetEndOfFile: Finish (0 ms) but have not been able to reproduce it.
What were you doing at the time? Playback, etc??
What does your library mainly consist of??

Thanks!

Nothing
Quote
What does your library mainly consist of??
The library mainly consists of music files 70 000
----------------------------------------

Ok - I was fed up.
Purge MC.  New installation.
An old library loaded - run "auto import".
Then MC wanted to update all thumbnails
OK --- I let MC work 2.5 hours
Then MC wants to analyze all 70 000 audio files
Audio Task - Needs audio analysis says: 228 files need analysis
I turned off the audio analysis in the import options

My image collection (5000 files) no longer exists in MC,
although the import path is set

What happened MC? For over 10 years I use MC.
It is the first time that such a chaos arises.

Could it be that my library is corrupt?

I have a library view only with web radio.
before one or two updates, this view was suddenly gone. Already there I loaded an old backup
see here: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,120972.msg837909.html#msg837909

Unfortunately, I do not know exactly if this was associated with the high CPU load

The CPU load now seems to be ok again.

Did you try restoring a backup?  MC makes them automatically.

Yes of course. Now, in The Morning I took a backup from 2 months ago. But it is the same game.
MC Imports about 1200 files
MC updates all thumbnails (I miss none)
Now I wait another 2 hours
and afterwards - I'm sure -
MC starts with the audio analysis of all files

Update 1

while "updating thumbnails" MC produces a log of 300 MB.
Content as already seen:
Code: [Select]

0000000: 140433647818496: Reader: CLocalReader::SetEndOfFile: Finish (0 ms)
0000000: 140433647818496: Reader: CLocalReader::SetEndOfFile: Start

0000000: 140433647818496: Reader: CLocalReader::SetEndOfFile: Start
0000000: 140433647818496: Reader: CLocalReader::SetEndOfFile: Finish (0 ms)
"auto reset when file size reaches" does not work
no matter what size is set.

Update 2

I start the log just before "updating thumbnails" is finished.
As predicted, MC begins audio analysis of all files:
I stop the analysis.
I try to finish the logging
MC does not respond
MC ended with Task Manager -----> log

This really looks like the import is stalling on an audio file for some reason, it could explain why you don't see the images either and the UI becomes unresponsive.

It would be REALLY helpful if you could get the log file when it starts doing those local reader loops before it rotates since after the rotate we can't see what cause d the local reader loop.

THANKS!

To the pictures:
Sorry, this was my mistake. ::)
A few weeks ago, I added underscores to the path.
Of course, The Library Backup did not know that.
Since one or two updates caused the problem with the constant high CPU load, I had a backup installed.
Also because the library view "Webradio" disappeared.
I have now turned off audio analysis. It looks like MC is currently running "normally"

The question remains why MC thinks it's time to re-analyze all the audio files.
As shown, there are only a little over 200 files without analysis.

As soon as I activate audio analysis in the import options,
CPU load goes above 10% and stays there without the auto-Import is started.
Usually MC is at start at about 8 -10% CPU load for 1 - 2 minutes. After that MC is below 1%

Edit:
I have now analyzed the open songs suggested by the Smartlist. What remained was my web radio.

Could it possibly be the reason in the Web radio library view is? (Picture)
Of course, they can not be analyzed. Is MC possibly still trying in the background?

There was a bug in that version that wanted to re-run file analysis because of the HDCD support we added (scanning for HDCD).
That MAY have been the issue with the URLS (webradio) too. That should be fixed as well.

I'm putting up a new build in a few minutes...
