I found when I scroll up the wheel on my mouse watching DVD movies, it tracks forth (▶▶/ff). When down, does back (◀◀/rw).
Many movie players allot the mouse wheel to volume control. But it looks like MC now does it for playback control same as the left/right arrow key on the keyboard. I think at least scroll-up should track back(rw) and scroll-down(ff) track forth just as when we browse a long website, we scroll-up to going back to the upper side of the page and vice versa.
How do users think about it?

What you propose sounds completely counter intuitive to me.  But what do I know, I invert the Y-axis in all games that I play.
