Newbie here,
I was wondering if I could try JR MC 25 for android phones, tablets, Fiio device, etc.
for a trial basis because the ratings are a bit low for it. Maybe it is not known well or
not tested enough. I would like to try this app for Android with no risk or if it does not
work well, I could get a refund? I would need maybe a bit more than 2 days to fully test?

You could read the Google Play Store rules on refunds.  I believe you can get a refund if you uninstall after an hour or so.

That is fine but I think I would need more than an hour to test if it is useful
for Android and works the way Neutron Music Player and/or Airfoil work if combined.
Given the 1.8 feedback score out of 5.0, it could be a risk to spend $9.99 on an app
that may have problems or that is not rated well by other customers?
Again, could I get a trial period for Android or could I be guaranteed a refund within
2 days at least especially since it seems to be experimental on Android at this point?
If one is not satisfied with the app and has paid nearly $10, that may not be fair
to be stuck with it with no way to get a refund.
Also $10 seems quite expensive for an app (especially one that is rated so poorly and
could be experimental)... that usually go for $4 to $7... I paid
$6.79 for Neutron Music Player for Windows...

Oh, if I pay $80 for the app for Mac and Windows, should I get a discount or the app
for free for testing on Android?

I think people are expecting too much from the Android app right now, as it's still the early days for it. And right now it's audio only with Android TV (and video) support coming for it soon.

Sure, it's a little rough around the edges, but the last couple updates have improved the performance of the app and I can actually use it now as my main media player app on Android. And it's worth noting it's actually a port of JRiver Media Center which is running natively on an Android device which is a pretty significant milestone (and it's not a remote app like JRemote). But... it doesn't have all the features the other JRiver Media Center apps have yet and they have to be developed from scratch for the Android platform, and that's going to take time to develop and accomplish (maybe years to reach feature parity with the other apps).

That's not how it works with Google and their Play Store policies. Everything related to refunds is controlled and handled by Google, so developers like JRiver has no say in that. As far as I know, Google only gives a user an hour's time for the refund window, which I agree is too short, but it's up to Google.

JRiver for Android isn't included with the purchase of a Windows, Mac, Linux or Master license because, again, Play Store restrictions in regards to external licensing.

Also depending on your situation you can get MC for the desktop and use media networking to stream all your music to the phone. I own the Android version but don't use it. I just stream to a free remote on the phone.

Okay then, I will hold off buying anything at this point
as the apps need to work on Windows, Mac and Android
at same time. I think if one pays $80 for an app, it should
work well across ALL platforms & if one has to pay an additional
$10 for one particular platform, one should be guaranteed it
works well and be given a refund if it does not meet expectations
given the low ratings of it.

Once the ratings of the android app is above 3.0, I will consider
this again...
Maybe Neutron Music Player app will up its game in the meanwhile
as it was more reasonably priced < $9 & Airfoil cost about $30 and
it runs on all platforms...
