Honestly, that's a good question.

My personal opinion would be until Microsoft drops releasing 32-bit Windows releases and updates (and all Windows OSes that are still supported by Microsoft; Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 whichever build number is the last with a 32-bit release), and only releases/updates 64-bit builds. Don't think it'll happen for at least another few years. Maybe 5? Maybe 10? Could be 20 for all we know. Don't think it'll go away anytime soon though.

Fortunately Windows is not like macOS, where Apple has dropped all support for 32-bit apps in Catalina even though I wouldn't be opposed to Microsoft doing this in a slow and steady depreciation process allowing users and developers to adapt.

I don't work for JRiver... I help keep the forums safe from "male enhancements" and other sources of sketchy pharmaceuticals.

Windows 11 24H2 Update 64-bit + Ubuntu 24.10 Oracular Oriole 64-bit | Windows 11 24H2 Update 64-bit (Intel N305 Fanless NUC 16GB RAM/500GB M.2 NVMe SSD)
JRiver Media Center 33 (Windows + Linux) | iFi ZEN DAC 3 | JBL 306P MkII Studio Monitors | Audio-Technica ATH-M50x Headphones

The 32 bit MC version is important to me to keep the "PlayingNow" plug in working.

I use some VST plugins that are 32 bit only. I'd be a bit bummed if JRiver went 64 bit only and I couldn't use those plugins.

It's possible I could find alternative 64 bit plugins or another solution around that if forced to. But I'd rather not.

Also for the foreseable future we'd need 32-bit builds as long as ARM can't emulate 64-bit. When I get it I'm going to try seeing if the Surface Pro X can run 32-bit MC.

Though as things stand, using MC on a Surface Pro anything - ARM or not - is a frustrating experience since the touchscreen is largely useless in MC.

MC 25 works well in Surface Pro X without any plug-ins. I have not tried MC 26 yet

I'm still on the 32-bit version as well, because I couldn't get my USB-UIRT to work in the 64-bit version.
