Fill Track Numbers From List Order
« on: May 06, 2003, 02:50:35 pm »

In MJ8, I used to be able to select all the tracks on an album, choose Properties, then drag the files into whatever order I wanted and then use the Fill Track Numbers From List Order command. It was very handy for re-ordering badly sequenced albums. I can't seem to figure out how to do this in MC9.

It's still there.  It's one of the tools under properties.

I know the command is still there. :) I just can't figure out how to select a group of files so that I'm able to drag them into the order that I want and then fill the track numbers based on the new order.

I've been complaining about that for a long long time.

Your only option now is to first put the files into a playlist, put them in the desired order there, then run the command.

Not nearly as friendly as it used to be, but it's all we got for now. :P

Odds are the following will work directly inside the Media Library view, but I'm not willing to try.   :)  But if you add all the album's misordered tracks to the Playing Now view (you know, just play them), then from that view you can select and drag tracks (one or many) to your desired order.  After that point, then do the "fill track..." thing.

It would be nice to have an option for triple digit tracknumbers, i.e.: 001, 002 ....  for 100+ filelists (like audiobooks).
