Tag editor views and the one with only values
« on: September 06, 2020, 09:27:53 am »

The tag editor has gotten new views some time ago. In order to edit tags efficiently the view with All Tags is not always helpful. There is a view with tags with values. However, that one does not list all tags with values and makes it therefor less useful. For instance the Tags concerning file names, path, etc all have values but do not show up the View. Wrong or intensionally? I would like to have been included.

I think this is to preserve your library integrity. Why should you change tags like file name or path?

I do not want to change these tags but want to be able to look at the info easily.

Which version of MC do you use? I am on MC26.0.107. The tag windows have changed some versions ago. I do not recognise your picture.

That picture is of the only Tag window I am aware of... it's a bit larger than usual, but it's what you get when you press ALT+ENTER or do RightClick->Tag on a file. Perhaps you want to attach a screenshot if you're talking about something else, for clarification.

Anyway, are you talking about the customization options of the Tag editor? I just added a "Fields With Values" group and all fields do show up there (and can be changed), including the file name and path.

Use the Add button to add this group, don't use the selectors on the right to change an existing group.

I am also on 26.0.107
The screenshot is from a Standard View (I have extended the Tag window to the right to see full tags)
