This issue has been around for awhile, but it really bugs me:

File analysis does not reset/update when updating files in a folder with files of the same name.

For instance, if I record an updated vinyl rip and place it in the album folder while overwriting the files, Media Center doesn't recognize that there has been any change. I have to manually analyze the files again.

Is that on a local drive or mounted USB/Network drive?
If it's not local, what is the format of the drive?

Auto Update Fails
« Reply #3 on: September 25, 2020, 08:18:55 am »

Suprised to see MC27 auto update itself this morn even though I had auto updates off in MC26 before the upgrade.  While I would love to see auto updates working the problem is they don't.  During the update process it requires approval clicks etc. and since the computer is vacant at the time what appears to happen is the installation just fails with a waterfall of error dialogs and os messages and popups.  Ultimately the user has to clean it all up and do it over.  If you are going to enable auto updates please make sure they 'just work' in unattended mode or across computer sleep sessions overnight, etc.

When one updates to MC27 from MC26, the method for doing that on a Mac is to install MC27 and restore from a MC26 library. When you do that there is a checkbox that enables the copying of the settings as well. IIRC this is on by default. If that box is checked and you had auto-updates turned off on MC26 they should be turned off on MC27.

The drive is on a Thunderbolt2 Mounted RAID. Mac OS Extended (Journaled). GUID Partition.

Did all that, been to this circus so many times before but it did not transfer all settings correctly.

One thing that isn't new but really needs a little attention is the window edge grab width is literally one pixel wide.  Can we make it maybe 2 or 3?  When I want to resize the window it's an effort of concentration and focus for 5 seconds trying to zero in on that one pixel to get the grab pointer.  For normal Mac apps the grab pointer begins a good 10 pixels outside the actual window edge and extends a few inside it giving plenty of room to grab it.  With MC it's literally one pixel right on the edge.

Interesting, MC should notice that the files have changed and re-import (if they are in an auto-import folder).
This won't work immediately on networked file systems or fat file systems but should be working in your case.

We'll check into that when the screen non-flipping builds are in working order. I expect that should fix some issues like this.
