The situation: I used to have a CD-R/RW drive in D: and a DVD drive in F:.


Then, using the Windows Disk Manager, I changed the drive letter for the CD-R/RW drive to E:.

Now, MC shows three CD drives under "CD, DVD, & Handhelds"
D: (Which does not exist) has the little fire symble
E: the CD-R/RW drive
F: the DVD drive

How do I fix this?
This has been there for many builds. I just haven't reported it.

You could see if Windows still has lingering references to the drive...
Try going into Device Manager, select View > Show Hidden Devices
See if there's a "ghost" version of any drives - usually the icon appears to be semi-transparent
Delete (uninstall) the ghost drive

You probably want to fully exit MC9 before doing this, and might want to reboot before testing effects in MC.

I will give the usual disclaimer about using Windows admin tools... you could fux0r your setup by playing around, etc.

Didn't help with my problem, however. There are no ghost drives ingering around.  

MC is the only application on my computer that thinks there is a drive in D:.  All other programs recognize the drives properly.

Try clicking the "detect" button in the cd writer settings page. Or, try uninstalling (tell it to remove registry entries) and reinstalling.
