How to upsample DLNA stream?
« on: October 07, 2020, 12:24:18 am »

Hi, I use MC27 and OPPO UDP-203 as renderer. My OPPO UDP-203 has special board which can DSD stream send DoP over coaxial, and PCM as well.
I use Chord Hugo TT2 DAC, and it connect to my PC with USB, and Coaxial with my OPPO.
When I play music directly from MC27 to DAC via USB, my DSP setup is all stream made up-sampling to 768KHz. DSD is send as bitstream. It works perfectly. However when MC27 send stream to renderer(OPPO), is does not applied.
I did check DSP setup for DLNA, there is only "Bitstream", "LPCM", "LPCM without header" and so on.
I also would like to play all flac/wav/ape except DSD file as up-sampled stream. Is it possible?

For flac, wav, ape etc.
"Options > Media Network > {select your DLNA Server} > Audio > Mode" set to "Specified output format".
"Options > Media Network > {select your DLNA Server} > Audio > Format" set to "PCM L16 No header", or "PCM L24 No header" if that works.
"Options > Media Network > {select your DLNA Server} > Audio > Advanced > DSP Studio > Output Format" set all Input formats to Output 768KHz.

For Bitstreaming DSD over PCM (DoP)
"Options > Media Network > {select your DLNA Server} > Advanced > Bitstream DSD (requires DoPE compliant renderer)".

Note: DoPE is DSD over PCM Ethernet.

The above should work as you wish. But I haven't tested, and can't, as I don't have an Oppo UDP-203. A search of the forum will find discussions about what the Oppo 203 can do, and can't. It is a fairly common topic.

For example: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,117958.0.html

But the Oppo 203 may not support DoP over DLNA, but instead support Native DSD, in which case you will need to tweak the configuration.

Note also: What the Oppo 203 can do over USB is different to what it can do over DLNA.

Download and run the DMRA from my sig. The renderer report will tell you the media formats that the Oppo claims to support.

Oh, thanks a lot, it works nicely but not over 384K. It should be limited for OPPO. DoPE works perfect as well.
I don't know if unmodified original OPPO 203 also can do this because mine has installed special mod which exchange original DAC board.
Anyway it is nice to see deep blue light on my Chord DAC which indicate that the incoming stream is 384K.
