I am going to need a new computer soonish, and am wondering what sort of timeline JRiver foresees between now and having JRiver running natively on the new Apple processors. I've got the universal JRiver license, and currently have migrated my library from macOS to Linux as I am holding off on purchase of a new computer waiting to see what Apple unveils in their next lineup. I'd like to consider JRiver functionality on whatever I get next. Have you tested performance of current builds in Big Sur under Rosetta 2, and/or have you started writing JRiver for the Apple processors, on a Developer Transition Kit? Any feedback or estimate on timeline would be appreciated.

As far as I know, nobody has tested Media Center with Rosetta 2 yet. A couple users have ordered the new Apple Silicon Macs, but haven't received them yet to test them.

So, nobody knows yet if it's going to work on Apple Silicon Macs yet. And if they do run, there's probably things that are going to be broken.

My brother-in-law's M1 Mac Mini arrives on 11/20. It might take me a few days, but you'll have some reports about how it behaves in Rosetta 2.

Thanks. I'll need a new Mac soon and there's no way i'll get an Intel going forward since Apple is off and running with their own processors. I really need JRiver to work with Airplay which means using a Mac for JRiver, or a very cumbersome workaround I have which i don't want to bother with. I look forward to hearing your feedback on Rosetta performance.

I'm glad to hear I was very wrong with my prediction.

Have you guys with the new Macs tested various types of content with MC yet? Like playing back music (of varying bit-depths and sample rates), videos (of varying formats/codecs), etc.? Would like to hear the results of that, hopefully there's no limits for Rosetta 2 or anything like that.

My brother-in-law does have his M1 Mini, but I haven't had a chance to help him set it up yet because holidays and work.

I'm an Audio-only user.

So far all seems ok.
Playback of various sample rates works well (i use only ALAC an AAC files).
