M*A*S*H brings up details no pic.

M*A*S*H (1972) has details and pic, but if I name the series M*A*S*H (1972) it  brings up M*A*S*H (1972) with no picture...Weird

Check that your episode / season number tags matches with tmdb episode / seasons

It is relevant if your library has different episode numbers than TMDd has - You would get wrong data. Just tested some M*A*S*H episodes and batch query for information worked fine for me.

how did you name the folder on your computer?

That is irrelevant.  And I told you how to name the series.

What matters is how you set the media sub-type, series, season, and episode tags once the files have been imported into MC.

They must be tagged as TV Show, and the series, season, and episode tags must match what TMDB has, in order for you to get a match.

Set your tags correctly, select all the files, do Get Movie & TV Info, and you will retrieve the data, all at once.

That episode looks correct, and it looks like the info was downloaded.

I think MC has a new limitation recently implemented that it will only look up 10 files at a time. Not sure if that applies to TMDB, or if there is any warning.

Make sure you select a maximum of 10 episodes before doing the Get.

The problem is not that it wont batch download.

It actually downloads the wrong one.

If I select one and manually look up there are two to select from

If I batch download it selects the incorrect one

Now that MC has moved to using TheMoveiDB, I would hope that the lookup uses the [TheMovieDB Series ID] if available, and would select the correct record based on that in batch mode.

So use just one episode, do a lookup and select the correct one, save that then check the [TheMovieDB Series ID] field in MC for all Episodes. All the files should all have the same value now, as the field is relational. Check that against the website directly, to be sure it is correct. The value is shown in the URL on the website, https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/918-m-a-s-h, and is 918. If so, a batch update should now select the correct Series, and if the Season and Episode number are correct on each file, MC should get the data correct.

In my system, with the Series set to "M*A*S*H" and no value in the [TheMovieDB Series ID] field, but the correct Season and Episode numbers, MC found the correct data and put it at the top of the list. So it would have been used if I did a batch mode lookup, even without the [TheMovieDB Series ID] field value.

If you aren't getting an image with the above settings, make sure that the "Get image" or "Use image" checkbox is ticked.

PS: I did a lookup for 18 files in one go. No problem.

Well, those would be wrong. They should be TVDB 70994 and TMDB 918.

Delete those values and do as above.

I think there is something wrong with the meta info in the files, as when I import them it is not adding series season or episodes

If you are importing new episodes then CARNAC must be guessing the Series incorrectly. That isn't surprising given that the Series name is "M*A*S*H" and a filename can't include a "*" character.

You will have to do some manual work for these shows, because of the above.

Well, there was a bunch of discussion around what to do with files where the Series name embedded in the filename included a year, like "Doctor Who (2005)". I thought it had all been sorted, but it appears that CARNAC could still do with some polishing.

For a start, it is taking the (1972) as the year of the program. I thought it had been agreed that if a year was included in brackets without a delimiter in the filename, such as a "-" or a comma, then the year would be included in the Series name. But it still isn't. So a file such as:

MASH (1972) - S03E24 - Playing Fair.mkv

Is still being interpreted as having a [Series] name of "Mash" (yes, MC changes the upper case to Title case), and is picking up the [Year] as "1972".

But with the above filename format, CARNAC does find the [Season] and [Episode] fields. That is because the filename format includes the Episode name and the delimiter "-" between segments, as far as I can tell and remember from discussions.

The filename:
MASH (1972) S03E24 Playing Fair.mkv
Only get the [Name] "Mash" and the [Year] 1972.

The filename:
MASH (1972), S03E24, Playing Fair.mkv
Also only get the [Name] "Mash" and the [Year] 1972. I would have expected that to work.

The filename:
MASH.(1972).S03E24.Playing Fair.mkv
Gets everything right. Well, almost. The [Series] is "Mash (1972)", [Name] is "Playing Fair", [Season] is "3", and [Episode] is "24".
With this file format and the resulting metadata from CARNAC, the 'Get Movie & TV Info" correctly finds the episode, and only the correct episode. One result is returned. (I made up the episode name, in case you were wondering.)

Note: My sample file did not have a Title tag inside it. That may change behaviour a little, as MC reads the Title tag into the [Name] field. With some MKV files this has been a problem, because rubbish was being saved to the Title tag by some software.

So basically, your filename doesn't have enough information or the correct format for CARNAC to work out what the file is, even though we can see plain as day. You will just have to do some post processing to fix things. Or rename your files before importing.

If all your filenames are in same pattern (R:\TV Series\MASH (1972)\MASH (1972) S03E24.mkv) just select all the episodes and then press F12 to open "fill properties from filename" dialog

Check Filename and insert parsing rule:
Code: [Select]
[Series] [] S[Season]E[Episode]
This should give you with example filename above etc. (Check quickly that series name is MASH for every file)
Series = "MASH"
Season = "03"
Episode = "24"

then set [TheMovieDB Series ID] as 918 for one of those files. (It should automatically change same for all other files where series name is "MASH")

Then do "Get Movie & TV info"
