Hi

I have a headphone system using a Chord Qute EX Dac. I've been keeping an eye on the Audio Path button in JRiver to see if I'm getting bit perfect and if not why.

In this instance, the source is 352.8 kHz 64bit 2ch from source format sacd.

my DAC can handle 352.8 kHz 24bit 2ch using Kernel Streaming due to the DAC only being 32bit

Is the Safe low-pass filter required for this type of conversion? i tried to readup on it and saw its a protection filter for noise produced in PCM conversion, is that's what's happening here?

If you're doing a DSD (including SACD ISO) conversion to PCM, yes, you want the low-pass filter or else you could damage your speakers without it.

Ok thanks, i need to readup more on PCM conversion as i'm not sure if i'm doing it or not? the dac can handle DSD128
