Critical Error message updating to 27.0.37
« on: November 29, 2020, 03:30:26 am »

Hi,

After updating (using CTRL-J) this message popped up in my browser: https://www.jriver.com/critical_error_27.html?error=30

The program seems to work okay, though, so what exactly does this screen mean? Can it be a false error?

Are you using 64 bit or 32 bit version?

I experienced this back in one of the 32-bit October betas, but thought it was fixed... Certainly, I've never seen it since.

Did you try downloading from the forum directly and reinstalling?
If you do that, do you still get the critical error page?

That happens when the signature to JRTools doesn't check out.

Right-click the DLL and pick Properties and check.

It sounds like something might be changing files on you?  So investigate anything that might cause that.

I'm on 32-bit, because my USB-UIRT won't work in the 64-bit version.

I went into the JRiver directory and right clicked JRTools.dll, and it immediately closed Windows Explorer and brought up the Critical Error page in the browser again. Downloaded from here and reinstalled, still can't right click the JRTools.dll file without the same happening, but no error on intstall this time, and MC starts up and works like normal...

Never seen this error before, and been using MC since v11. Guess I'll just see what happens when the next build comes out...

That doesn't sound right at all. Do you have the shell extension option enabled? If yes, I would try turning it off and rebooting your PC, then see if you can right click without crashing explorer.

There is also a JRTools.dll in the \J River\x64 folder. Signatures are verified on both dlls.
