Hi, I use your excellent JRiver MC27 for audio only on my laptop connected by USB2 to my Arcam D33 DAC which can handle and displays the incoming sample rate up to 192kHz. I have many hi-res FLAC files at 24/192. When I play these with the audio device "Arcam USB 1.0[WASAPI]" and the output formats in DSP are all set to "no change" playback it automatically configured by MC27 to 96kHz.

My laptop has only USB2 or USB3 outputs and I wish to use WASAPI as this bypasses the laptop's mixer which can have a detrimental effect of the audio quality.
The ARCAM D33 manual states the following inputs:
USB inputs of Class 1 electrically-isolated USB 1.1
Class 2 USB 2.0 High Speed (480 Mbit/s)
AES/EBU Up to 192kHz sample rate
Coaxial S/PDIF x 2 Up to 192kHz sample rate
Optical S/PDIF (TOSLINK) x 2 Up to 96kHz sample rate

Is this ceiling of 96kHz a limitation of utilising USB or that the only WASPI device offered is "Arcam USB 1.0[WASAPI]"?

Saw a review on whathifi

Seems it needs special drivers, when connected to type II.

There’s also a pair of USB sockets: the Type I accepts music files up to 96kHz, while the Type II can handle high-res (PC users will need to install special drivers provided on the supplied disc, Macs are compatible out of the box).

In the past, Windows did not handle greater than 96 KHz sample rates and the manufacturer needed to supply a class 2 driver for 192 KHz. With Windows 10, you no longer need those class 2 drivers - Windows handles the higher sample rates directly. So try WASAPI with the Windows driver directly, rather than with the manufacturer's driver.  You can also check in the Windows Control Panel to be sure that 192 Khz is supported. You can test it there under Advanced.

What does Audio Path (little gear in the upper right of the screen - next to shuffle) say when you play 24/192 files?

Do you have Exclusive Mode checked?
