Power settings (loss of sound)

Hope someone can help.
 my power settings on my HTPC how somehow got screwed it used to hibernate now will not.
But another issue has surfaced, when pausing a movie then restart we have lost sound, the only way to get sound back it to close JRiver then re open.
I am wondering if all my fiddling trying to get the machine to hibernate has screwed something up..
