Hi,

I encounter a problem with JRiver 26 ever since I updated Windows 10. I cannot modify most files without receiving an error msg:

Quote
Media Center encountered errors while tagging or moving files. Check that the files exist, are not read-only, and are not in use by other programs.

I tried to remove individually the "read-only" flag from the folders: does not work, it reverts back to read-only. I tried to change the security properties of the files but I'm completely lost there and furthermore, I'm not going to do that for every folders with media files in it, it's impractical.

I'm logged into Windows with an administrator account so I don't get why there's a problem, suddenly... I just reinstalled J26 for good measure, to no avail.

Windows Defender may be blocking the files:

Folder properties in Windows always show the "ReadOnly" checkbox half-selected; it doesn't mean that the files themselves are read-only. It's only shown that way so that you can unselect it to clear read-only attribute from all files within the folder.

I updated the exclusions for MC26 .exe files, folder & I verified that the the files I was testing for editing in MC26 were excluded by folder location & by file type. I then rebooted. Didn't help.

The only files I can still modify without error msg are the ones located on a specific drive.

Is it possible the OP needs to "Take Ownership" of the files after updating Windows? I have had to do this in the past, particularly with external drives.

Can you play the files from MC? (is the path correct?)
Can you copy some new file into the same folder as one of those files? (ie, can you write to the folder?)
Can you change the file tags using any other application?
Is the NAS turned on?  ;D
