DLNA volume
« on: April 28, 2021, 10:44:00 am »

Hi

I use JRiver as a DNLA server. One of my HiFi setup is fully digital:

JRiver as DNLA server, Trinnov Amethyst as network DLNA renderer with digital AES output to a NAD M2 amplifier.

NAD M2 volume is set to 0 dBFS and I use Amethyst volume as it is quite "better" than M2 volume.

Question
I wish to know how works JRiver volume in this situation (either directly on JRiver on my Mac, or on JRemote)

I think that it should act on the volume on the DNLA renderer. But I cannot see any change on the renderer control panel.

So either, there is something wrong in my JRiver setup, either there is something missing in Trinnov Amethyst DLNA configuration.

JRiver volume on JRemote is very convenient, but I do not want to use 2 successive digital volume controls.

Kind regards

The renderer is sent Volume level commands from MC via DLNA.
I would think it would reflect that fact.

Thanks Bob

I had explanations from Trinnov

DNLA volume is applied to track reading/decoding inside the renderer.

But Trinnov Amethyst volume is made as part of the acoustic correction process. Only this one is reflected on the device itself

Kind regards
