DLNA renderer not appearing
« on: May 23, 2021, 03:30:25 pm »

Hi

When I switch on some DLNA renderer, it does not appear on JRiver, even with the refresh button.

If I spend some time looking on JRiver screen, this renderer appears for a fraction of a second, and then disappears, several times during 15 minutes.

If I restart JRiver, it appears nearly immediately and no problem for hours or days.

Any hint? Maybe on network configuration?

Kind regards

That usually means MC is having trouble communicating with the device. It's removed from the dynamic zones when it fails status calls.
You might want to insure the device gets the same IP address every time if you are on the usual home setup of dynamic IP addresses (give it a fixed lease in your router).
You might want to consider doing that for your primary MC computer as well since it could be the device itself that's getting confused.

Finally when it happens you can try power cycling the renderer.
BTW, what is the renderer??

Hi Bob

Thank you for you help.

I need to apologize because I did not provide you comprehensive information.

The renderer is Trinnov Amethyst.

JRiver and Amethyst have always same IP adress through reserved DHCP adresses.

But...

I use also Bubble UPNP server to make Amethyst "Open Home".
Why?
Because I use Qobuz streaming too and I understood that you may never implement Qobuz streaming in JRiver.
So I need to make Amethyst Open Home to use Lumin app that has Qobuz but need Open Home renderers, and Amethyst is not.

I solved my issue analyzing what was happening on the network.

I had the same name for Amethyst as a DLNA renderer and Open Home renderer.

I changed the Open Home renderer name to something different, and now everything is fine: I can use Lumin App and Qobuz, and JRiver for my own local library and Amethyst shows up in JRiver smoothly.

Maybe, this kind of information will be useful for others.

Kind regards
