Upgrade directly from MC26 to MC28
« on: May 30, 2021, 08:04:31 pm »

Can I upgrade directly to MC28 from MC26??  Quite some time ago I attempted to upgrade to MC27 from MC26 but found that it somehow affected my library and reordered the display of my music. Not sure why this happened (it had not happened before) but I ended up going back to MC26 and have continued to use this.  I am hoping an upgrade to MC28 will not result in the same problem.  Can someone please advise??

Since one of the New Features of MC28 is Improved Library Migration https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,129292.0.html
MC28 should inherit all of the things you have changed in MC26 when you install it, assuming of course you have saved all of those changes to the MC26 Library/Database

You should be fine unless there is something really strange about your system.

Do a library backup of your MC26 system. Then do the upgrade. If there is some problem with the upgrade, restore the library backup to the 28 system.  If there is a problem after that, report the issues here. There would have to be something strange with your system for both of these methods to fail.  Keep the MC 26 system until you are fully satisfied with the 28 system.

FYI - MC 28 is still in beta and is not yet available to the general user.
