Dante virtual sound card
« on: June 03, 2021, 12:04:33 pm »

Hi,
I am all new to JRiver and also to Dante, so have patience with me please.
I got Dante virtual sound card on my pc. In windows sound device manager the channels are listed in pairs. 1-2, 3-4,  up to 15-16. My mains are on channels 1-2. I want to add a sub to
channel 3 or 4 but I did not succeed so far.
I set up 2.1 format but I don't see a way to route this additional chanel to output device 3or4.
Do I have to add additional crossover software to do that?

Thanks in advance,
Radian

I got the two zones working separately, channel 1-2 for the mains and channel 3-4 for the sub.
When I try to link the two zones only one is working and the other is silent.
Any idea what I could try next?

Greetings,
Radian

I am not surprised.  I have tried to get JRiver on a WinPC to send different channels to different DACs in a number of ways and, so far, have not succeeded.  I bet you can do it on a Mac.  ;)

I don't believe mc has any device aggregation feature on any OS so if you need to this then you need to use OS specific tools to present such a device for MC to play to. Doesn't Dante provide anything like this?

I still can't understand why each Zone plays perfectly to it's designated putput device but when linked only the zone in the forefront is working.
That tells me that the problem is not caused by the Dante virtual soundcard.
Come on guys it can't be that hard to get this bug worked out.

While I am playing music in Zone 1 I can switch to Zone 2 and play another file simultaniously. Both Zones are using different Dante output devices.
So I know for shure that my Dante stuff is configured right.
The problem, or may I say the configuration problem lies with MC.
I am running  in wasapi mode.

In trying to learn more about Dante, I came across references that indicate some players have problems with Dante and wasapi. Have you tried using ASIO? It seems to be the preferred driver.

I guess I found exclusive mode.
When I tick it I get a "wrong output format" error although everything gets converted to 48khz.
Does any body know of a vst plugin that does what MC suppose to do?

Yes a while a go but I don't remember what problems it caused.
Is there a way to achieve what I want with Virtual Audio Cabel or AsioBridge?
