DLNA issues
« on: June 09, 2021, 03:09:32 am »

Hello, I use with satisfaction your jriver program on my imac Pro 2017. The version I use is 27.0.39, and it is the last one I can use, because from later versions there is some problem with the dlna service, I think, only with movies.
I use a Panasonic DMP-UB900 player as a renderer, and with versions later than 27.0.39, I cannot play any movies: the error window appears saying that there is a problem with the selected DLNA device.
What can i do to use the updated versions of jriver mac?

Regards,
Massimiliano Avinio

Hi, is there any news? Because even version 28 gives me the same problems.

Would you mind sending a log file with the current MC28 to me at the address above?
I don’t recall having gotten your other.
Thanks.

The pertinent section from your log:

Not sure why this isn't working, since the send command fails quickly, it looks like the renderer doesn't like something about the mimetype perhaps.
Do you have something with a different format you could try playing? This one is h.265 video, perhaps something with h.264 just to test?
I assume your MC DLNA server video settings is "Original format"??
Thanks.

Hi, I have also tried with h264 movies, but it still doesn't work.
I confirm that the video setting is "original format".
The settings are like the ones I use in version 27.0.39.
I can't figure out what could have changed in later versions that it can't work anymore.

It certainly a mystery considering you having the same server settings.
Would you be up for using wireshark to do a detailed trace of the session?
One with 27.0.39 the other with MC28 so we can compare the results?
You would install wireshark on your Mac
Setup a capture filter based on your renderer IP (ip host 1.2.3.4) where you replace 1.2.3.4 with your renderers IP address.
Get a movie ready to play in MC
Start the capture and then end it as soon as the playback fails.
Save the capture file and email it to me?

Hi, I installed wireshark, and after a few crashes, the application seems stable.
I did the recording first with media center 27.0.39, then with the latest version of media center 28.
Attached to the email, you will find the file logs.
I hope it will be useful to you.
Also, for your information, I installed media center 28 on a pc with windows 10 and it doesn't work anyway. It only works with version 27.0.40, I don't remember exactly.
I guess you can rule out my iMac and the other pc. I haven't tried with another renderer, I used to use the apple tv 4K before, but that doesn't count because I didn't watch movies with jriver media center.

Greetings,
Massimiliano Avinio

I see the issue.

Need to do more checking into the proper solution.
Do you have a windows machine you could run AndrewFG's DMRA analyzer on to spec out the renderer?

Hello,
I would like to thank Robert (Bob)for his patience and interest in my problem, before announcing that, now after some settings and testing, everything works great!
Attached I have included the screenshot of the settings I used with MC 28, I hope it can be useful to someone.

Greetings,
