"Googleless" Android - is Panel my only remote option?

I'm attempting to run my phone (Android) without Google.  So far it's worked out pretty well as I've been able to find downloadable .apks for the apps I need.  However I did find out that my licenses for JRemote and Mo4media won't work without the Google playstore.  Mo4media dev says no.  Anyone know if JRemote2 can be licensed without the playstore?

I did find an .apk for Gizmo...  seems to work OK, but I'm not sure how current it is.  I don't have experience with panel, but I'm going to try it out today.

Nope, JRemote2 requires the Play Store as well.

Thought so. Both gizmo and panel seem to be OK. Anyway to shuffle a Playlist with either?  Seems should be obvious, but I don't see it.
