Add share: Failure
« on: November 15, 2021, 07:58:18 am »

I have successfully added two folders on my Synology NAS. One for Albums, one for Movies. However I keep getting Failure when attempting to add the folder, 'TV Series' as 'TV Series' OR 'TVSeries'. I attempted without the space for the Id name but perhaps it simply does not like external folder names that have spaces?

Code: [Select]
Add a share to be visible upon startup (q and ENTER at any question to abort)

Path to the share (i.e. //mycomputer/share)
//Pistachio/video/TV Series

Directory name on this machine (i.e. mynas)
TVSeries

Is the //Pistachio/video/TV Series on a Windows computer (y/n)? n

Should TVSeries be Read-Only or Read-Write (ro/rw)? rw

Access //Pistachio/video/TV Series as the guest user (y/n)? n

Username for //Pistachio/video/TV Series? *****

Password for //Pistachio/video/TV Series? **************

Checking to see if we can access //Pistachio/video/TV Series

Failure
Hit ENTER to continue

Is there a workaround or a solution for folders with spaces? Is there something else I'm missing?

I'm not sure if this will work, but try escaping the space in the share path:

//Pistachio/video/TV\ Series

Thank you for the suggestion @BradAtIMA. However it did not work.
As I'm presently re-establishing the media set-up I went ahead and renamed the folder to not have spaces.
TVSeries worked fine.

It is worth noting that a share under mnt had been created as 'TV'.
Weather or not that was created by my previous efforts or the escaped one is not clear. Fortunately there is a routine from the menu to delete unused Mounts.
