NEW: Media Center 26 Update for IdNUC and IdPi
« on: February 27, 2020, 09:58:34 am »

There is an update available for newer Id models (All NUC models and Pi4) that will update Media Center to version 26. We plan to roll out the update to older Id models soon. Use option 12 from the Id main menu to get the update.

Edit (3/2/2020): This update is now available on all NUC models and IdPi4 models

More information is available here:

Struggling with the webpage issue on arm. It's got some weird interaction with debugging. Still trying to figure it out.

Thanks for the update Bob,
Incidentally the update on my Id on the boat ( Intel Nuc) seems to have gone OK. My two other Id’s at home have not upgraded so are still working fine.

I'm considering making a build that backs off the chromium plugin and reverts to webgtk until the issue becomes more clear.

Well if that restores the Streaming page on the RPi it gets my vote !
Any news when it might be possible to have a repair image for the Id Nuc that could restore the BBC streams to me?  :'(

26.0.35
This is for the Id's that have a Id version of 24.0.17. These were made with compatibility for the 3b+

The IdPi4 builds will show a Id version of 25.0.9. That has NOT been upgraded yet but will soon and that will have the chromium browser plugin. The IdPi4 builds don't require an IdPi4 but they have a newer OS.

The older Pi3 (not b+) will show a Id version of 24.0.9. That's still in testing.

So I now have 2 Id’s showing 24.0.17 and 26.0.35, that are functioning correctly.

And  1 showing 25.0.9 and 26.0.26 with the broken web page.

Is this correct?

As of now, all current IdNUC and IdPi models (versionless MC which started shipping with MC24) are upgradable to MC26 (currently 26.0.37).

For the NUC models the browser is the chromium plugin.
For the IdPi models < Id version 25.x the browser will be GTK based.
For the IdPi models Id version 25.x the browser is the chromium plugin.

Hi I am having problems updating my idPi (not P4). I tried it through Panel, and clicked "Confirm" but nothing happened. Then I connected to my monitor with an HDMI cable and hit option 12 from the main menu. It rebooted, but something like "0 updates" flashed and it's still stuck on the old version. Version numbers are: Id - 22.0.79 MC - 22.0.113. Please help!

Thanks,
Jude

Your IdNuc might need this sort of treatment:
https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,110326.0.html

If memory serves, I don't think IdPi upgrades work the same way. I wouldn't be surprised if a new SD card is required. Hopefully, bob or Brad will be along soon to give you the true story.

MC23 was the first "rolling version" for builds of the Id. MC22 versions of the Id won't go past MC22.

If you have a NUC you can upgrade it yourself with the repair stick see the messages at the top of the forum.

For the Pi builds your only choice is to send the card back to us for a rebuild or purchase a new one (there might be a discount on that, email deanna (at) jriver (dot) com for details). The reason for this is that the Raspberry Pi can not be booted into a live system directly from a USB stick.

I think I'm having Memory Play Issues again when using the Pi4 as a renderer. The host server does not disable the audio buffer in the DLNA section and have selected "load file into memory".  When using the resource monitor the memory usage doesn't change. No matter how big the file is.  Any thoughts? Is there another resource monitor i can try on the pi?

If memory play isn't working i don't want to add wear and tear to the SD card.

Is the Media Network setting Disable Audio buffer to disk on?
That prevents buffering to disk and should be on by default on the IdPi.

It's not disabled but from my understanding if you're using memory play it will buffer to ram. Also, if I did want to avoid it buffering to the sdcard (and not ram), would you disable on the renderer or the ID that feeds the renderer.

I should have caught this before....
With the audio buffer disabled (in Media Network options) the incoming file will not be buffered on the MC renderer at all, it's using only the TCP window size for buffering.
When that's not disabled the buffered reader is used. This will be to the sdcard or memory depending on whether or not the play from memory is set as you have found.

There's definitely something not working.  The only way memory play works is if the file on the renderer. In the past the renderer was able to play from ram regardless if the file came from the server or not.

The internet reader in this case is lower level than the memory playback which appears to be disabled in the case of playing a URL.

The reader would normally buffer the file to be played back to disc so that it can be seeked, etc if it's not a seekable stream.
Enabling memory playback wouldn't change this since memory playback is done at the playback level which is well above the internet reader level. That's why the option to disable buffering to disc is enabled by default on the IdPi, the file is played back while it's being streamed bypassing disk buffering. At this point, memory playback doesn't offer much, it doesn't help the stream be seekable, etc.

That said we are not committed to play from memory for URL's being disabled but at any rate you would still have to leave disk buffering disabled in the options for your IdPi.

When you buy an Id, either complete or a SD card you will have received a specific licence code for that instance. You need to use that, enter the email address you registered it to and answer No to is this the first use question.

Hi Guys,
I think this is the right place for this request.

My JR ID setup is running ID 24.0.17, MC 26.0.107-5 and the Engen is 1.0.69
The hardware is Intel NUC DN2820FYKH - as supplied by JRiver many years ago.

What is the root to upgrade to MC27, 28 and beyond?
How far can I go with the existing hardware?
What forum topic deals with this please? - i always find it very difficult finding this info (without going in to the whole ID and current version debate again!!)
