I play mostly sacd iso with mc28, mac os big sur (bitstreaming).  I noticed the iso tends to sound brighter than if converted to dsf/dff, mostly heard in vocal sibilance and maybe a tad less low/ low mids. I tried to avoid converting to dsf/dff because of clicks between tracks( still occurs with iso , but less often). What's happening in the conversion process that is smoothing out the sibilance? Are there settings that can be tweaked to smooth the iso out a bit in real time? This occurs with dsd and dst isos.

Don't use Media Center's conversion features to create DSF/DFF files from a SACD ISO. Not only does the conversion have to go through PCM in the middle (DSD > PCM > DSD), they're all lossy conversions.

Use ISO2DSD with sacd_extract to extract (without conversion) DSF/DFF files from a SACD ISO.

i don't. I have sacd_extract and that audio inventory application.
besides, i prefer the sound of dsf/dff compared to the iso ,when using these application .

It's literally the same though, the data in the DSF/DFF file is 1:1 the same from the data on the ISO if it was extracted correctly using sacd_extract when extracted into an individual file inside a DSF/DFF container. There shouldn't and wouldn't be any sound difference at all because it's exactly the same as the source, just inside individual container files (and it being in a container wouldn't make any audible difference). The data/audio bits are unchanged and there should be no audible difference between the SACD ISO and the DSF/DFF extracted files.

should my AP hybrid sacd iso of 'Elvis is Back' and the AP Dsf version from acoustic sounds sound the same? They don't with MC 28/big sur.

It sounds exactly the same, which is exactly what I'd expect. If you're hearing differences then honestly it's either placebo or something went wrong when creating the DFF/DSF files and they went through a PCM conversion step, because it doesn't matter if it you're listening to a track on a SACD ISO or an individual DSF/DFF file of the same track, the data is exactly the same so it'll always sound exactly the same unless some sort of conversion happened.
