All jokes aside, I am still puzzled by Apple's decision to buy Primephonic. I know Primephonic from when it was developed and launched. In my view Primephonic did not add anything (or worse would subtrack capabilities) from the other (classical) streaming services, such as Qobuz (to which I subscribe), Highresaudio, Idagio, etc. Any idea what would Primephonic add to the already operational Apple Music.
Major weaknesses of Apple Music are (1) it messes with bitperfect, (2) no support for DSD and (3) extremely inflexible interface, (4) weaknesses of airplay. Any idea?
P.S. I would like to see JRiver focus more heavily on its prime playback capabilities, develop a much better mobile app and dump all the "cloud" functionalities. JRiver still wins from ROON (which I also use) but the gap is narrowing.

I think prime answered this already:
https://www.primephonic.com/

As a classical-only startup, we can not reach the majority of global classical listeners, especially those that listen to many other music genres as well. We therefore concluded that in order to achieve our mission, we need to partner with a leading streaming service that encompasses all music genres and also shares our love for classical music. Today, we are therefore thrilled to share a great step forward in our mission – Primephonic is joining Apple Music!

I understand the reasons for the people of Primephonic - they would never survive alone - but I do not understand the reasons for Apple: Maybe they paid nihil and just hired experienced people.

Platform acquisitions are rarely about the software itself (although it does happen), more often it is about the subscribers to the service being transitioned to yours and giving you a boost (or a starting point, if you dont have any), and in rarer cases about the employees.

Also often just to kill off a future/promising competitor.
