Sorry if I'm nagging . . .
« on: March 15, 2003, 10:36:48 am »

. . . as I have already posted the same request once. Thing is, that I created a File property in MC  (called Name/Movement), which appearently got lost when upgrading. Is there no way to get this back? Could this info be stored somewhere on the hd? (I have already put some work into this organizing, and don't like the idea of starting over again.) Sorry to bother you all . .

Did you choose for the property to be saved inside the file?
Because if so then if you re-created the name I'd imagine that MJ would just read the field and find the data already saved in the files.

No, I didn't. Thanks for the tip. I would very much like to have that confirmed as the proper way to work things, before I go on with the rest of my cd's.
Or, if someone has a suggestion of how to name music that has several parts (Name/?column), I'd like to know. But above all else, I need to know what to do to be able to take a personally added property with me from one version to another.

Are you importing your files after every upgrade? Import of custom created fields into a new database does not work right now! You have to create your own fields first, otherwise they will not get imported automatically.

I already reported this and Matt promised to fix it, but it has not been done yet (haven't tested the last build).

On the other hand there is no need to reimport your database after every upgrade. Just make a backup of your library before you upgrade.

In fact, I can't remember. Could I be wrong, or were they imported automatically? Anyway, I've got two summary questions: 1) The info I stored in those custom created fields, can not be retrieved, right? and 2) Since I don't use the 'Mood' fielde anyway, can I safely rename this and start using it for additional name info, and still be sure it will be there after an upgrade? If that is so, I guess that'll be my solution.
