Used wrong MC license by mistake to purchase MC30
« on: October 12, 2022, 08:42:08 am »

I'm running MC27 but mistakenly used my older MC26 license to purchase and download MC30.  Now when I try to install MC30 I get the message:  "You are using Media Center 27 Mac to install a license for a different version.  Please download and install the version that matches your license, and then try again."

I think the message means I should download and install MC26?  But if I do that will that cause a problem since I have MC27 installed now, not MC26?  What should I do to fix my problem?

Thank you.

You use the new MC30 license you should have gotten in your email, not the MC27 license.

Thanks, but I used the license I received when I purchased MC30.  Anyways, after your post I went to the download site, downloaded and installed MC30 and used my new registration to license it.  During installation it didn't use the import location that I'd set up in previous versions of MC to get my audio files as I expected it would, but I've pointed MC30 to the correct location and it's importing them all now.

... and it's importing them all now.
Just a hint: you don't need to re-import all your media when installing a new MC version. You can make a back-up of your library in the old MC version and then restore that back-up in the new version. This is much faster and less error-prone.

Thanks for the hint.  Looks like the import went well but I'll make a note of your suggestion for the next time.
