Excessive disk access
« on: October 18, 2022, 11:27:08 pm »

Maybe someone can help me out... I am currently running MC28 on a desktop with an ASUS motherboard and Intel I5 outputting via USB to a Chord DAC from a 1.9 TB HDD of which 1.53 TB is used (421,520 files).

The problem, which I also was beginning to see in MC27, is that MC goes into intense HDD access and ghosts the program for 30 seconds or more for sometimes very small reasons, like adding a thumbnail image to the files on a 24/96 FLAC album, or sometimes when changing from one audio view to another. Any idea what's going on?

Is the drive local?  Or a USB drive or NAS?

Make sure you have Windows Defender tamed.  There is a thread on it here.

Check your settings under File Locations to make sure the locations exist.
