Time Shifting
« on: March 03, 2003, 04:56:59 pm »

I just started messing with this and I might be doing something wrong but when I start time-shifting in the TV tuner with a Hauppauge WinTV401, I lose audio.  Any clues?

Did you select correct sound device and audio line by which you connect audio output from your TV card to your sound card?

Audio page on Configure TV.

I get audio when I watch TV normally;  it disappears only when using time-shifting.

My question is whether you ran TV configuration and select proper audio device and audio line. If you did not make proper selection, audio would be OK in normal viewing, but there would be problem in time-shifting.

Yes, I did that.  The correct audio input (Line-In) is selected.

Please check the following:

1. Run TV and start time-shifting.

2. Open the Volume control from your system tray.

3. Is Line-In muted? It should be muted.

4. Is Master Volume NOT muted? and volume value set properly?

5. Choose Properties from Options menu on Volume control window. Click Recording. Make sure Line-In is checked in the lower portion and click OK. Now check if Line-In control has a check mark in front of Select, and the volume is at about middle.

All of this is correct.  I'm using an Audigy so it has an Analog Mix input rather than separate ones for Line-In, etc.

Is there any configuration that you can do with the Audigy that allows you do select which input audio you want to record?

Not that I'm aware of.  I use that input also for recording from mixing gear with no problem.

It turns out, this user was able to solve his problem by completely un-installing Creative drivers and applications and re-install them.
