TV Tuner Issue on MC30
« on: March 27, 2023, 03:51:00 am »

For several months, I regularly face an issue that I don't understand and I'm not capable to fix.
Could please help to investigate:

I use a USB DVB-T tuner AVermedia A835 to watch and record  TV.
I'm running latest version MC (30.0.82) but the problem also occured with previous version)

With one  particular channel (and only with this one), atfer a few days of normal operation, I can't watch, neither record it. No error message, previous and next channel works fine. Sometimes a quick message apears telling something like "waiting for signal lock".
Once this occurs, I can't access this channel anymore, even if I restart MC or reboot or rescan channels.
And now the weird behavior occurs:
The only way to fix it, is to start previous installed versions MC29 or MC28, then watch this particular channel which, on these version, works fine. After I start again MC30 and everything is fine for a fews more days.

For info here  channel's detail that caused the problem :
   Type: DVB-T
   Database key: 12796169
   XMLTV Identifier: C112.api.telerama.fr
Attributes:     Not a member of a group
   Network ID: 8442
   Service ID: 776
   TSID: 3
   Frequency: 634000
   Bandwidth: 8
   ONID: 8442
   Audio PID: 521
   Audio format: E-AC3 Audio
   Video PID: 510
   Video format: AVC1/H.264 Video
   Is DVB2: False
   Is scrambled: False

Any ideas ?

Regards
Philippe

Which time-shifting method do you use, Program Stream or Transport stream?

Actually that is a separate setting.  TS format for recording but time-shifting can be either.  Check TV options > Time-shifting method.

OK, you are using the original method.  So we rule out the possibility of it being caused by the new method.

That however also means I have no ready answer.  From your description, it looks like the tuner is not getting enough signal.  Have you tried tightening your cable connections?

I don't think it is caused by the tuner, because as I said, if I stop MC30+MS and start MC29, suddenly it works. Then when I return  back to MC30 it works fine  for a few days,  that is weird
