This is an old problem, but I've just installed MC on a new PC using Windows 11 for the first time, so I thought I'd give it a try.
I've a dedicated HTPC, client to a separate server. All I want is to be able to put the client into standby (while MC is running), and for it then to wake properly the next time I want to use it. Without any fiddling about, MC does not handle this at all well. The HTPC will go into standby, but when it wakes MC will be attempting to run the file it was playing before going into standby. I say attempting, because sometimes it freezes, sometimes for a video it will lose sound. So trying to work around this, I built a little batch file that runs on wake from standby. Very simple, it just uses MC commands Clear, Close and then start MC again. Works perfectly if there is no file playing when I go into standby, but if a file is running, MC seems to ignore the batch commands (which I can see have run) and be stuck trying to play a video, usually with no sound.
