Connect to Server using domain name
« on: March 26, 2024, 01:45:53 am »

Hello!

I've been running a jriver media server since version 24, and over the years the server has grown to accomodate several other services.
However, I am still unable to use the domain name for connecting a jriver client on my laptop to the server.
So instead of using the access key, I would like to use https://music.example.com:52200.
Because with the access key, I have to re-enter my username and password whenever my dynamic ip at home is updated.
However, I am unable to get this to work. JRiver on the laptop reports always it is loading the library read only and shows a library with 0 files?
Connecting to https://music.example.com:52200 works without issues in the browser and in the jremote app?
Is there a bug within the jriver windows client or am I making a mistake?
It is not asking for username/password either with the domain, with the access key it prompts for the passwort as expected.

Thanks for your help,
Ruediger

Windows laptop? Try clearing the saved password in:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\JRiver\Media Center 32\Internet Authorization

It's also saved in a file, I'm not sure which one is used (don't delete the file, edit it with notepad and search for your domain name in there):
%APPDATA%\J River\Media Center 32\Library\Settings\User Settings.ini

There are two relevant sections there:
[Internet Authorization]
[Properties\\Libraries]

Thanks for your advice!
However, it didn't work after clearing the saved passwords either.
I installed a fresh version in a virtualbox and it didn't work there either, until I figured that i need to enter the domain name without https://
My bad :)
Thanks anyways!
Kind regards,
