Replacement video display device
« on: April 12, 2024, 02:37:35 am »

My current video display device is a Sony Bravia TV that I purchased circa 2005.

It is now starting to send up warning flares.  So I am thinking of replacing it.

What I like about the Sony Bravia I have:

 - picture is quite good.  Especially for its age (but "4K" vs the 1080HD is not something I need)

 - the D/A converter in it is most excellent, coming close to the quality of the studio-quality Benchmark Media unit I have.  This is important to me because I use MC's Theater view for listening to music.

What I'd want in a replacement TV

 - a similarly excellent D/A converter, for the same reason

 - good picture quality

 - no apps, or a way to disable all Internet access

Given that criteria, where do I start looking if I want to replace my current TV?
