sending radio stations from MC to streamer/DAC
« on: November 04, 2024, 03:14:41 am »

I recently upgraded to latest version of MC after not using for a few years.   I am streaming some of my local internet radio stations via MC and they work fine on my computer but I want to stream to the DAC/streamer that I am already sending my music files to via MC.  I have no problems sending my music files to play via the DAC/streamer.  I just can't work out how to send the radio output to the DAC/streamer.  Hoping someone can help.

If they're being played via the embedded web browser (Edge or Chromium) the only way is to use the WDM driver, which is only available on Windows.

Thanks Awesome Donkey- I followed the instructions, installed the WDM driver, rebooted my PC, but when I got to:
"Make sure that, in Media Center, your setting under Options-->Audio-->Audio Device is not "Default Audio Device." You need to set your audio device to whatever your actual physical output device is. Because the WDM Driver is now the system default, setting Media Center to output to the system default just creates a closed loop"  I got a list of physical audio devices and not the streamer/DAC.  The streamer/DAC is listed under the playing now heading.  When I want to play my music files I click on the streamer/DAC under playing now then click on whatever music track and it works fine. Hopefully I am missing something?

I don't believe sending wdm input to a streamed output is supported, only to other audio devices (so if there is some software that can bridge an audio device to a dlna target then that would work but MC can't do that itself).
