verizon port forwarding
« on: November 28, 2024, 10:13:46 am »

Hi, I'm helping a friend get started with JRiver. When trying to open port 52199 for WAN control, Verizon (not a company I use) requests a few more bits of information than I am used to. I am attaching a screen capture, and I hope a friendly soul can tell me what info I need to input.

Happy Holiday!

Address to forward would be the local IP address of the device MC is running on and Protocol should be both TCP and UDP if offered as an option. If it only gives TCP and UDP as separate options you may need to make two port forwarding rules, one for TCP and one for UDP of the same port and local IP address. Schedule wouldn't matter, you'd want it on all the time. Application can be called anything you want, e.g. JRiver.

I'm afraid I have one more question, as we have not successfully opened the port. I assume "Fwd to Port" is 52199, but I'm required to supply an entry for "Original Port", and I have no idea about this. I'm hoping that once I know this we'll get settled here. Any help is, as always, greatly appreciated.

The ports should both be 52199.

Make sure to put a REALLY good name and password on your authentication for library server in MC if you open MC to the outside.
