Custom View
« on: December 12, 2024, 12:43:25 pm »

Hello All,

I have a custom view created for High Resolution Audio. It filters the music properly grouped by genre. I figured that out. Now, with this done, it groups all album art in a pile and then to the right it shows the details. I cant seem to get individual album cover art to display followed by details for each album. It is driving me crazy. I attached a screen shot to show an example of what I would like it to be in my created view.

Thanks for the help! It is driving me nuts.

It reads like:

You're grouping by Genre. This would mean that every album in a genre group would be fanned at the head of each Genre group. Without more detail regarding where you're at and where you want to be, it's difficult to advise.

Is your view a "Panes" view? It looks like so from your provided screen clip.

Do you know that you can create library fields specifically for grouping? When I say that, only you, the user would know this. So, here, I use several library fields for grouping only, and for those fields, when I created them, I prefixed their names with "VS-" (vs = view scheme)

So, if you created a library field that was an expression derived field using the expression "=[genre] - [album]" (without the quotes) and then chose that field to group by, sorting by [genre], you might be closer to what you want to see...

Hey Marko,

Thanks so much! I am still learning more of what JRiver can do and  I appreciate your help. I checked and yes, I am using a "Panes" view. I found that when I clicked on "Customize View."

I did not know that you could create library fields specifically for grouping, but I will experiment. In the meantime, I have posted a screenshot of what my screen looks like when I enter the "view" I created to give a better understand of where I am in the process. I just got in from work so I will experiment and report back.

Thanks again!

One more photo...this seems to be the closest I can get for my knowledge of JRiver. It seems I cannot keep this view and then further make it so that the albums appear (Genre A-Z). I did experiment with expressions and while it did not achieve the result, I learned something new.
