Cannot open dvd files on any pc on any jriver mc version
« on: December 21, 2024, 10:44:51 am »

I Cannot open dvd files on any pc on any jriver mc version.
I get an error "failed to ooen or parse file. Hr=0x80004005"
This happens all across versions from mc 23 to mc 33.
Vlc has no issue with any of the dvd files.
What happen ? There was no such issue in the past.

Pretty sure with Media Center that ISO and folder structures rips for DVD and BD playback only works on Windows, not Mac or Linux unfortunately. I recall this is because support for both in MC relies on a Windows system component for handling that and is something in MC that hasn't been developed to be a cross platform solution, so it's still Windows-only. You'd have to rip the disc images in MakeMKV to MKV files and watch them that way, however there's no menu support or anything like that.

VLC has its own cross platform support for things like that, so no surprise here that it works.

I don't work for JRiver... I help keep the forums safe from "male enhancements" and other sources of sketchy pharmaceuticals.
