JRemote (Mac)
« on: January 19, 2025, 08:44:11 am »

Hi there,
I just got the JRiver remote app but can’t access my server. I tried using the Pass Key but I just keep getting this message when I try to connect. Can anyone offer some advice please?
I’ve attached a screenshot of the message I get when I try to connect.

Many thanks,
Tony

Going to need some info.

Are you trying to access the library outside of your network or is it within your network? If so you'll need to forward port 52199 (and port 52200 if using SSL) on your router. If it doesn't work you need to see if your ISP uses CGNAT, which prevents port forwarding from working. Is the iOS device using any sort of VPN including iCloud Private Relay? Does it work when using a web browser (Safari) using Panel? https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Panel

More info on the wiki here: https://wiki.jriver.com/index.php/Network_Access

Hello :-)

I have the same issue. The iPhone is on my home-network. Panel is working in my browser, but JRemote responds that "The internet connection appears to be offline."

Hope it's OK to join the thread.

I’m trying to access it on my local network when at home. I’m not very good at tech stuff so I have only downloaded the JRiver remote and just tried to connect but am lost. I haven’t tried it through Safari as thought it only worked via the remote app. How do I connect through safari?

To use Panel type “192.168.1.190:52199” in your browser (local IP:52199) – If it works, you can then access MediaCenter from the browser.

Great, yes I pasted that into Safari and I can access the Panel and see my music files. I’ve tried playing the music but although it looks like it’s playing there is no sound. Might just be an issue at the moment but will try again later but thank you for your advice on accessing via the Panel. It’s a shame I can’t connect through the remote app which I just paid £12:99 for.

(To get sound on your phone from panel – try to click ⚙️(settings) and select “Play to … Here”)

Hello, fellow posters.  I posted what seems to be the same problem in another sub-forum, and a response cross referenced our posts.  Here's mine: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,140420.0.html.  If we are encountering the same problem, I hope there will be a fix!  thanks.

Hi Bob,
Yes thanks for that screenshot but I’ve checked those settings and it still doesn’t work.
There must be an east fix, ever other app can connect to my MyCloud Ex2Ultra to access, play and save files so I don’t understand why JRemote doesn’t ?
I’m only trying to use it on my phone over my own network via Wi-Fi in the house?
Come on you more Tech Savy Guys, what are we doing wrong?

JRemote is trying to connect to your MC Server on your Mac. Is it running?
If Panel works on your phone then JRemote should also work.
If Panel works only on the Mac itself but not on the phone, then your Mac firewall is likely blocking port 52199 and you need to open it.
If your Mac is also connected via Wifi, it's also possible your Router is blocking connections between the phone and the Mac (Wifi Isolation setting).

If Media Center is running on a Mac, this may apply, you'll need to enable local network access and allow it in macOS's firewall: https://yabb.jriver.com/interact/index.php/topic,140447.0.html
