Hi,
I'm evaluating the switch from windows to linux.
I use a small netbook for JRiver (audio only, just for listening to my local files). On windows 10, it runs smoothly, even with a VST plugin doing parametric equalization for room correction.
I'm almost new to linux (but I did already severaly attempts to fix the issue since I know about software programing).
I installed mint 22.1 + using xfce (since I saw it's supposed to be a very lightweight interface).
I use the Theater View for simple navigation (well, thus I have already limitations in linux compared to windows, because I use a MCE IR remote... running fine on windows, but much more basic keys working only on linux, that's another story

)
An issue is that the navigation is muuuuch slower than on windows. I use a folder navigation, with the view quite simple: only 1 line per folder (so there are really not many lines and folders thumbnails to display).
When going up/down, the kind of animated change (supposed to be a smooth change for the selected line) is slow and thus shows not nice artifacts (like remanence, it's tiring for my brain...).
The option is JRVR, I tried with or without hardware acceleration, it's same issue. Same also with legacy opengl.
The skin is Obsidian. I tried with another view, and also setting to 100% the zoom (it was bigger than this), issue remains.
-> Is this a known issue (compared to windows version)?
Should I try another distribution, is there here something different for performance in the kernel, apart from xfce that would allow better display performance?
Regarding audio, it's running fine (usb dac), I added also a vst for parametric equalization, the processor is running with it at less than 10% (and the task manager itself is taking some %...), so the cpu is far to be overloaded (of course when I'm in theater view, since it's full screen, I cannot check in real time if there are spikes when navigating)
Thanks in advance
