Emusic tags...
« on: August 08, 2003, 04:43:20 pm »

Have been DL'ing a lot of Emusic stuff lately and have noticed one tag that seems funny: UFID.

Anyone know what it is, and whether it can safely be removed? I have a feeling it may be some sort of tag for P2P prevention, or at least recognition, and don't necessarily want it in my files. I don't P2P anyway so I wouldn't think there would be any harm in removing them.

Thoughts?

APIC:< unknow data type>

I have it on Emusic mp3
But ,as well on MP3 from the rusian site .

I do not think that they try to track a song...not them....

OGG downloaded from the same site do not have the APIC tag

This , i can tell you ,NO.

Even the OnlineEncoding has this tag.
OnlineEncoding == you order the cd in the format and bit rate you want.
They rip it and ,when ready ,you can download it.

Look like this UFID links to a download when you need to registered and pay to get it.

I just wonder , i'am sure of nothing

Test with a small set of files first!

I just did 3100+ files. Not a problem.

I was waiting to see if anyone else tried this. Patience was never a strong point with me.  ;)

I wouldn't think so. Meta-tags MC keeps should have just filled in the new tags. I don't keep cover art in the files so I didn't have a problem there.

Kind of sucks that you have to do that all over again. MC can get quite a few right, but also a lot are of the same album but issued in a different country. Several it found for me were from Japanese releases. So I had to hunt them down manually. Also noticed that Emusic has a ton of stuff that is rather obscure and cover art is downright hard to locate.

EDIT:

Try the Incomplete albums from the smartlists to see if there is maybe something missing.

Lately I've been stripping the ID3v2 tags off all my EMusic files before importing into MC and retagging.

I use Feurio for burning audio cds and it was driving me crazy because when it would import EMusic mp3s, it would insert the genre as the track title, even after I had deleted the genre tag.

It turns out that EMusic also puts the genre in a field called TIT1 (the track title is in the field TIT2) and Feurio will use TIT1 as the track title if it is present.
