Someone made a plugin the other day to save to a text file what is playing.

I started playing with Internet Chat, was thinking of making a Media Center 9 Chat Program Plugin.

I think it may be usefull for users who want to help another user they can then go into real time chat.

Just an Idea And I Do I have A Working Model Of It i have been playing with. for a week or so.

Sure, there is a format called MP3+G that uses a standard MP3 file along with a .CDG file (which contains the video for a karaoke machine) .. you can rid Karaoke discs and it breaks out these two file types.  

What I would like to see is a visualization plugin that looks to see if the .CDG file (of the same name) exists and plays it while the song is playing ... sorta like an interactive MP3i format ...

And I'm guessing there is no way to port a WinAmp plugin to MC ?

To port this I'm thinking all one needs to know is the CDG video format .. and how to push it to a Viz Plugin when a song plays ... the configuration would be .. If a file exists in the same directory with the same name (but .CDG extension) then play it ...

I'm pretty sure I remember reading ages back that winamp plugins work with MC - give it a try and see what happens.

Tried a WinAMP v2 & v3 plugin .. and all I get is "Unsupported Plugin Type.  The plugin cannot be installed."

OK ... one of you geniuses out there .. Ive got a WinAmp 2.x and 3.x plugin that does CDG playback ... but I cantport these to MC ....

Name a price for someone to write a proggie that does DCG playback (Visualization) of files that have a CDG file in teh same dir with same name during playback !!!

Come on .,.. is it beer ? ? Whiskey ? or are we talking big buxxx here ! .. First born ?

Ive done some research .. now I have  DirectX controller that will play CDG files in my MC Library ...

NOW ... I need to have the controller search for the .mp3 files in the same dir and play them at the same time ?

This is an interesting concept and one which I'd be interested in as well.   Anyone have any sense for what the effort required to build such a beast would be?  Is the CDG format well documented?

Ok, ONE HUNDRED DOLLARS for someone who comes up with a solution first ...

Now, I can tell you that there are DirectX capable players out that that will play CDG files .. only problem is that I havent found one where you select the CDG file and it grabs the MP3 audio to play with it .. but they do have ones that when you select an MP3 they will play the CDG video with it ...

Remember $100 for the first to find or create such a plugin!  (Oh yeah .. it has to be able to work full screen too)

While I still dont know of a plugin or Codec to play MP3+G combos, I did find a program that will convert CDGs to AVIs.  www.karaokeplayground.co.uk was talking about using it to convert CDG to a DivX AVI.  Unfortunately you have to merge the audio in after the fact.  They sugjest Adobe Premier or VirtualDub.  But, Once done, the file will play in lots of different situations.
