Sony NetMD plug-in
« on: October 22, 2002, 11:49:37 pm »

I recently downloaded the latest RealOne Player because I had to play back a streaming ram file and found out that it now has a plugin for Sony NetMD.  Any plans for adding this feature to MJ in the near future?

I would also love to see this plugin for MJ. But I think this was talked about before on this forum, and it is not possible at the moment due to licensing or something like that.

Here's hoping though.

Yeah.  I wouldn't crave for this feature if the software that comes with NZ-N1 weren't so buggy.  If Real Player could do it, why not MJ?  I would much rather not have Real Player installed on my computer.

Have you tried using the real player plugin. I would be interested to know what it is like.

It must be better than the Sony Open MG botch up.

I've used the RealOne Player to download to the Sony NetMD and it works great.  Of course you have to set up your library in RealOne, so that you lose a lot of the functionality that you may have already set up in MediaCenter.

I still haven't been able to understand how RealOne has a plug in and MediaCenter doesn't if it's a licensing issue as others have said.

I'd love to see an NetMD plug-in too, but the RealPlayer one works for now and it virtually eliminates the check-i, check-out problems with the Sony software.
But RealPlayer is essentially using the Sony writer software to transfer the files so it doesn't seem like a plug-in for MC would be that difficult to concoct.
