What does the "4 Channel JRSS 2.0" option do?  What does JRSS stand for?  I looked through the help, but it didn't mention anything.  

I have found a number of different DirectX plug-ins that I'd like to try to perform filtering/active crossover for bi-amping speakers.  

I was told that there was no way of increasing the number of channels available through a DSP plug-in.  I was wondering whether that was still true?  Could DirectX plug-in's create multiple channels from one input channel and return the information to MC?  

Would it be possible to use the 4 channel output to generate 2 left and 2 right channels, that would in turn be run through high pass and low pass filters for the speakers.  If I select 4 channel output, what exactly gets put out to the 4 channels?  is it two identical copies of the music or is it some random attempt at creating surround sound?

I can't answer all the questions, but JRSS is JRiver Surround Sound.  The sound card has to support multiple channels.  You may have to also turn it on in the sound card control software (not MC).

Ahh... no wonder I couldn't really find it when I went searching on Google for  information on it.  I had though that it might be some standard that I hadn't heard about.  But presumably, it probably does not provide an exact copy of the front two channels for the additional 2 channels, so it would not be a good method of moving from 2 to 4 channels for output.

Is there some location that talks about the limitations of DSP and DirectX plug-ins?  And/or what order they get run in?  i.e. Could a plug-in be run after the format had been changed, and could that plug-in be given all 4 channels to play around with and munge.  (Sorry if I've asked more questions that can't be answered.)  I'm hoping to eventually get

Yeah, the card in one of my computers does support multiple channels.  But I probably won't bother, since surround sound is not what I'm really after.  

My real goal is finding a way to provide RCS and a digital x-over.
