Hi,

I'm getting "Failed to find local Media Server" errors pretty frequently.  I have a very solid, very reliable 802.11b link between my client and my server, but I get this message a lot of the time.  Sometimes if I reboot my server PC, I'll get a connection.  Sometimes if I keep searching for servers, I'll get it (I just connected on about my 14th attempt).  

So all the software is running correctly, I've got a solid link (strong signal, filesharing is flawless, speed is multi megabits per second, once connected I can stream songs till the cows come home), so why is it so hard to connect?  Can I increase a "retry" setting somewhere when it's searching for a server?

Are you searching for media servers or have you entered the IP address?

Aha - you're probably on to something.  The only way I know how to connect is a search.  How do I "enter the IP address"?  That sounds like it might be much better, but looking under the "File/Library" menu, all I see is "search"....

file->library->library manager then click on add and follow the example.
You'll need to choose a port instead of letting it choose one.

The search is based on UDP instead of TCP, and UDP is not guaranteed delivery. This may explain the problem.

Library Manager.  It's at the bottom of that menu.
