Change Properties en masse?
« on: December 16, 2002, 10:57:09 am »

I want to copy the data from the "Artist" field to the "Album Artist" field for my entire library (700+ cds).  Is there anyway to do this in one operation (instead of editing each artist individually)?

You may not want to do it in the first place. I may be wrong on this but "album artist" was dropped in v9. On top of this is that it is not really a tag...it is a MJ database field. So the info is useful only to MJ and won't transfer. If it were a genuine tag then you could use one of the million batch tag editors available on the net to do this.

Thanks, guess I'll wait for the final v9 (I'm not the beta testing sort).

Since I like to use the "Album/Artist" view most often, I'm just trying to think of the best way(s) to keep 'Various Artist' recordings organized together (i.e. not scattering single tracks around) without losing the individual artist info for each track.

Keep In Mind that in MJ9 you can create "Album Artist" if you wish.

they are still working on the tags, and i want them to add a combo box (like I have more than 2 Cents) to the tag config to allow a user to add standard ID3v2 tag fields or fields they can create on there own.
