File Names
« on: December 19, 2003, 08:53:58 pm »

question for the experts.  When I rip a CD to the hard drive, quite often the file names for the songs will be preceeded by numbers; such as "03 - " or "04".  Do these numbers serve any purpose other than to designate the order of the songs on the CD?  Can these numbers be safely removed, by renaming the file, so that the songs can be gorted by title?  Finally, if the numbers are not needed and can safely be removed, is there a way to keep Media Jukebox from placing the numbers in fron of the titles when a CD is ripped?  Thanks for any help.

MC -> Options -> File Naming & Locations lets you pick how files are named.

Selecting files -> Right-Click -> Library Tools -> Rename From Info allows you to rename existing files however you like.

Hope that helps.

You can choose the filename for ripping onto your hard disc as anything you want eg. [Track#][Name][Artist] - if you feel that is useful info - then in MC you can tell it to just show [Name] so you don't see the track number (Unless you want to!)

Output File Location/Filename Rule for the filename afore ye rip

Right click a pane column heading in MC to get the choices as to what to display. (Eg. Name)

But I'm no expert...
