What's happening with the SDK?
« on: December 26, 2003, 03:32:44 am »

Um,

I can't find any reference in the current SDK (running build 10.0.24) to the GetFields function that everyone was so happy to see a while back. I'm really desperate to start using it.
Also, I see entries for GetFileByKey, etc, etc, but no mention of them in the automation SDK documentation.
Seriously - MC9.1 was finished, but you completely forgot about the SDK.
What's the deal?
Please give us some indication of how the SDK is going to be developed in MC10. I just feel so gutted that MC9.1 is such a great program with such a huge user base, but the SDK is in shambles.
Sorry if I'm ranting, but I don't know what else to do.
Please help us third party developers make Media Center even better.

Scott.

I can't even get GetFields to work:

And as I said in this thread:

We have had our hands tied.   I guess J River don't want us to develop stuff for their application anymore.   And even if they do implement enhancements you can bet your hat that it'll only be in v10 which totally limits our target audience as it forces users to upgrade.

Yep. No 'normal' user of the released 9.1 product will bother to upgrade to a newer 9.1 build if it's just an SDK improvement. It is very sad.

I think a 9.1 to 9.1 release they would ... but not 9.1 to 10.

Well hopefully if they fix things in v10 they'll consider just copying the code over into the v9.1 code and releasing a version of that that's fixed. Depends how many users want it.
